The number of journalists killed in “Israeli” attacks in the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7 has risen to 165 – following the death of Al-Jazeera’s Correspondent Ismail Al-Ghoul and cameraman Rami Al-Rifi in an "Israeli" strike near the home of the late Ismail Haniyeh in Al-Shati refugee camp.

The Gaza Government Media Office strongly condemns the Israeli occupation's targeting and killing of Palestinian journalists, and held them fully accountable for this “heinous crime” – the statement said.

The airstrike that killed Al-Ghoul and Al-Rifi, which took place on Wednesday, marks another tragic incident in the ongoing aggression, as journalists on the ground continue to face extreme danger while covering the situation in Gaza.

This incident follows the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran, further intensifying the volatile situation in Gaza.
